Transparent Mind

is a short animation exploring an individual’s awareness of the world at large; especially the causal effects that the human species has incurred upon the environment and the animal life therein. The film is about a girl who cannot free her mind from images and thoughts which spring forth from the consideration of the destruction and disregard for the sanctity of life beyond that of the human. The film is in fact a visual stream of her consciousness, with each thought (scene) taking her to another thought that is different yet related. Multiple techniques were involved in the making of this film (2D hand drawn, digital 2D frame by frame using Adobe Photoshop, and key frame animation done in Adobe After Effect) to create the sense of different levels of consciousness. It has a non-linear narration in order to simulate the process of the mind and its ‘flow-like’ quality that is achieved through cuts and multiple transitions.
